Camila lives two lives. On one side, she is la Furia, a soccer player on fire. On the other side, she is the perfect daughter. When her soccer team qualifies for the South American tournament, Camila sees just how far her skill can take her. Suddenly, her dream of getting a scholarship to a North American university seems attainable. But getting there won’t be easy. Her parents don’t know about her dream nor would they allow a girl to play soccer. On top of that, the boy she loves is back in town. Diego has become an international star, and him coming back to Rosario, Argentina only complicates things even more. Now, Camila must navigate her secrets and make her way in a world that doesn’t give space for girls with dreams and ambition.

This book was a Reese’s YA Bookclub pick that I am just now getting to. I was recently told about the term “mirror and window” books. A mirror book is one that closely reflects on your own life, and window books show you a life different from your own. This book was definitely a window book for me. It opened my eyes to what it’s like to be a girl with ambition in a place that won’t allow that. It was completely eye-opening for me. I felt every disappointment, every heartbreak, and every challenge in this novel. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to learn about lives different from their own.
